QSL Cards (As Listed On Ebay)
This project centered around collection and archive as a design practice. Because I'm so interested in ephemera and antique graphics, I chose to catalog QSL cards being sold on Ebay as my topic of interest. QSL cards function as a mixture of business card and postcard circulated amongst amatuer HAM radio operators. This 12 x 18" poster showcases the collection of cards and the system by which I organized them.
After cataloging over 200 cards, I categorized them based on their content and was able to draw parallels between this antiquated method of communication and the modern practice of self-curating social media profiles. This connection is what I examined in the accompanying publication with support from a peer-reviewed paper written by Pamela Cochran.
